DEAR DIARY … JUNE 30, 1961

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Dear Diary,

I played.

At night everyone came over.

I pooled (pulled) a tooth.

We left for our trip to Idaho.

*Oh, yeah, had to pull a tooth right before leaving

on vacation, didn’t I? I remember my mouth was sore, so

I got to have ice cream malts for awhile. Yum! 😉

You can find Cee’s blog and the Share Your World questions at http://ceenphotography/2015/06/29/share-your-world

For this week #26, Cee’s questions were …

1. In a car, would you rather drive, or be a passenger?

I’d much rather be a passenger. I like driving sometimes, but having ADHD I get distracted too much by whatever I see out the window. I also have vertigo, which can happen just by looking up, down, or sideways too quickly. So, being dizzy while driving is not good.

2. If you were handed free opera tickets, would you go or sell them. Why?

I’d go see an opera, sure…if it was here in town. Why not? I’ve been to a ballet in Germany, which was a new adventure, so seeing an opera would be great! I might not understand it, but think of all the sights you’d see on stage, and the people who come to see it, too. You could look at it like you’re a reporter, and write about all that went on.

3. Describe your outlook on life in seven words or less (Note: does not necessarily have to be a sentence.)

Peace, Love, Light, Kindness, Music, Art, Intuition, Humor, Laughter, Kindness

4. Which would you prefer: a wild, turbulent life filled with joy, sorrow, passion, and adventure with intoxicating successes and stunning setbacks…or… a contented life bordering on happy, secure, and predictable, surrounded by friends and family, without such wide swings of fortune and mood?

I’d rather have the quiet, secure, happy and predictable kind of life. I’ve had adventures, by travelling the world, and really home is best. Being an introvert, I prefer small family or friend groups, once in awhile, don’t like parties, and my anxiety goes way up in a crowd, even in a store, sometimes I just have to get out of there…too many people, too much noise, too many distractions bombarding me.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Hmm…well, since my life is so mundane and predictable, I was grateful for the pretty sunrises I got to see and take pictures of. What am I looking forward to…taking time to create more writing, and work on my art projects…and trying to get more reading in, as my to be read stack of books is growing higher! 🙂

DEAR DIARY … JUNE 29, 1961

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Dear Diary,

I played.

D (my cousin) came over.

We went to the dime store.

We went to Grand-ma’s.

B & N (aunts) were there.

* the dime store….my favorite store. It was actually T G & Y, a variety store. (this was in the days before Wal-Mart came along). One of my all time wishes back then, was that I’d somehow be the winner of some prizes for being the 100th  or 1,000th customer to come through the door that day. My prize would be to choose 2 aisles in the store, and everything on those would be mine…for free! I would imagine all the fanfare and confetti, and balloons, and interviews that would happen, when I was declared the winner. The 2 aisles I’d always pick would be of course the ones with coloring books, and toys. Once in awhile I’d think I should pick an aisle for my mom, with things she’d want, but mostly I just wanted the books and colors! Well, it never happened back when I was ten years old…guess I’m still waiting… 😉

WRITER’S LAMENT

WRITER’S LAMENTDSC00218

An entire blank page

Vacant of words

Daring me to fill it…

This special pressure to create

Something out of nothingness…

Oh, fortify me…bear with me…

For to never match my emotions

To my words within

Would be

Tragic –

Would persecute forevermore…

~

Created from 10 random words I picked from a thesaurus…with my eyes closed. Chosen words are in bold.

DEAR DIARY … JUNE 24, 1961

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Dear Diary,

I played.

After dinner Grand-ma came over.

P (sister) and I went home with her.

I sewed a long time.

At night N and B (aunt and uncle)

Grand-ma and pa came over.

N had some fimm. (film)*

*fimm = home movie film

We were always watching home movies. Dad would get out the

projector and pull-up screen, and we’d gather round to watch

(there was no sound though) …

Also I sewed? I did lots of embroidery (my grand-ma taught me how)

DEAR DIARY … JUNE 23, 1961

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Dear Diary,

I played.

At night we went to the show.

We went to see the 101 Dalmations.

***

Oh, I remember going to see this. I was so excited. Our parents didn’t say where we were going, when we got in the car, but as we drove up to the theater, I was screaming and bouncing up and down…so happy to get to see this movie (original one I believe) …And…we saw it at a drive-in theater! 🙂

SHARE YOUR WORLD … Week # 25sywbanner

Today’s questions from Cee’s Share Your World http://ceenphotography.com/2015/06/22share-your-world

1. What did you or did you not like about the first apartment you ever rented.

Our first place was a duplex, near an Army base, as my husband was in the Army. It was in Lawton, Oklahoma, and the base was Ft. Sill. The duplex was just a one bedroom, living room, and kitchen…nothing special. What made it a fun place to live, though were the neighbor ladies, who were like me, newly married to a serviceman, so we had a lot in common. None of us had jobs, so we visited and played card games, board games, and played with our dogs (we all had a dog). That’s what I remember best about the first place we lived, away from our childhood home.

2. What kind of art is your favorite? Why?

I like being creative, and I’ve drawn and painted for many years. I mostly do acrylics these days, because it dries fast. I do lots of other crafts from time to time, such as scrapbooking, making jewelry, sewing, embroidery, and crochet, just whatever sparks my interest at the time.

3. How many siblings do you have? What is your birth order?

I have one sister, five years younger.

4. Complete this sentence: I’m dreaming of a white… (and no you can’t use Christmas as your answer)

I’m dreaming of a white…? Nothing much comes to mind, as I don’t like many things that are white. I like vanilla ice cream, hate snow (it’s pretty, but rather not have it), I like a new journal with nice, blank, white pages, and a new canvas to paint on.

5. What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m always grateful when I get to spend time playing with my grand-daughter. We have a lot of fun together. For the week coming up that I’m looking forward to is…this is pretty silly, but true (sorry, don’t hate ;-)… The long year of waiting is finally over…my favorite reality show is coming back on again…Big Brother. I’ve watched every single season of it, and now it is time again.
