Three things that have inspired me lately:

1. My 15 month old grand-daughter. It is amazing to see her learn new things, Her smiles and laughter is so sweet. To see the world through a baby’s eyes is refreshing, and makes you take the time to look at everything around you with a new outlook. And my 5 year old grand-son, who is discovering and excelling in his writing and artwork, and is inspired by the stars above and the many rocks he finds here on the ground. They both have the wonder and love of life. They are very inspiring to me!

2. My cat, Cricket. She was ill the past week and had to go to the vet for treatment. She did not complain about feeling bad, and only a few growls, when she was examined. We should all be as calm about our situations, less complaining, and worry, and know that things will be better for us soon.

3. Reading blogs of all types. Everyone writes in their own special way, giving us a peek into their world, whether happy, sad, silly and fun, or just a rundown on their life experiences. We can all learn from each other, that there are many ways of doing things, wherever we live, whatever our customs…and that is very inspiring to me!

Thank you again, Yinglan, for the nomination!

And thank you, everyone, for taking the time out of your day to stop here for a few moments! I do appreciate you! 🙂

TRUE TALE of TELEPORTATION

Standard

TRUE TALE OF TELEPORTATION

As promised, here is another of my true tales of teleportation. At least, that is what I call these incidents.

Have you ever been at a certain place, and then suddenly, without knowing how, you are at another place? This happened to me and my daughter, one summer day, not long ago.

We’d been out and about town, going to yard sales, on a Saturday morning. We’ve done this off and on for years, and we know the streets and areas pretty well. Once in awhile, we drive around an unfamiliar neighborhood, trying to find the advertised address, without too much trouble.

This morning was about the same, and we did find the yard sale. It was in a little housing area just to the south of the city. To get there was no problem…just one turn from the main road, then into the residential streets. We did our shopping, then got back in the car to go find more sales.

We pulled back onto the main road we’d come in on; that much I know. It should have been the one turn, back the way we’d come. I know we turned in the right direction…north. However, nothing looked the same at all, now. The housing area where we’d just been, was not there anymore. It should have been off to our right, but there was no sign of it at all. We didn’t see any of the landmarks we’d noticed on the way there, and even the dip in the road and the stop sign, we’d taken note of earlier, was not there, now.

We kept driving straight, along this road, hoping to see something we recognized. The whole time, we kept remarking about how weird this was. We couldn’t figure it out. We felt really lost…in our own town, and were getting nervous about it.

Finally, finally we saw a street sign that told us where we were. But, it seemed impossible that we were at this place and on this street, now. We’d only made the one turn, back toward town. Now we were miles away from where we’d been, and in a completely different area and on this different street. We’d have had to make even more turns to get on this one.

We were relieved to know where we were, now, but still had no explanation of how it happened…except that maybe, just maybe, we’d been through a time/place/space warp…or something!

There could have been a portal that swallowed us up, moving us to the other place. We didn’t feel anything, we didn’t see anything…we just found ourselves in a completely different place in that split second.

I don’t have any idea why, or how this happened, but since it did, and we were eventually able to find our way back, it seems pretty amazing. I wouldn’t mind doing it again, but would like a warning that it was going to happen, first!

WAITING AND WRITING

WAITING AND WRITING

I don’t know about you, but I’m not fond of waiting. Seems like everywhere you go, you have to wait in a line, wait in a room, wait to be seated at a restaurant, wait on the waitperson to take your order, wait on your food to come to the table, wait at stop signs and red lights, wait for your flight at the airport…waiting…ugh! Waiting is boring. When you have to wait at the doctor’s office, way past the time of your appointment, it is one of the worst. Would you agree?

So, when I know I’ll be in a place of waiting, I bring along something to occupy my mind and time. I always have a pen and paper to write on. I look around at my surroundings, at all the other waiting people, and write about what I see. This, then, is what I wrote, on December 9, 2014, while…you guessed it…waiting.

So, waiting at the eye doctor appointment with my husband. It is his appointment, and he likes to get to places early, in case we can get in earlier than anticipated. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. This is one time it did not. We’ve been here forever it seems. The appointment was at 11:30, but we got here about 10:30 or so, and now it is ten minutes after 12 noon. He just now got into the other room…to wait some more, I’m sure. We were already tired and bored.

I did get the nosepad of my glasses changed, at no charge. It took only a couple of minutes, though. I wandered around looking at all the glasses frames to buy. I sat back down and checked my phone for messages on Facebook, Twitter, and Email. I brought my Kindle, too, in case I wanted to read something. We’d looked through a National Geographic magazine catalog, of things to buy from them…all very expensive items, but interesting. That took up maybe five minutes.

The waiting room was full of people, when we got there, then it kind of cleared out. Then it filled up again. Now, there only a few people left waiting. They all look as bored as I am. They are checking their phones, and reading magazines, too. I’m sure they are wishing they could get on with their appointment and get out of here…because it is so boring!

The place is nice in here, though. Good furniture to sit in, not just some hard plastic chairs. There are a few comfy chairs and a plush, leather (or fake leather?) couch. There are pretty flower arrangements on the glassed top tables, and at this time of year, a few Christmas decorations. I go over to see the ornaments they’ve arranged on the tree. There is a tv in one corner, up high, tuned to the game show Jeopardy, but the sound is turned down really low, so you can only hear it if you are sitting right by it…which we are not.

I did go out to the truck for a few minutes. I’d brought a glass of iced tea, so I wanted to get a drink, and just get some outside air. It is a nice day – not hot, not cold – a little damp feeling, though. I see some fire-trucks go by, then a few minutes later, there they go again in the other direction. When I get back inside, he has gone into the eye-exam room. They finally called him back there…yay! Wonder how long this waiting part will take?

I’m getting hungry. It is past noon; hope we can go get some lunch when we get done here. Where, I don’t know. Before we came here we’d taken some packages to be mailed at the UPS store, and also had gone by the mechanic’s shop to pick up an invoice for his work place. So, it started out a busy morning, but we are stuck in the waiting zone, for now.

I’m going to try and make up a poem about all this waiting…Hang on a second while I think… Ok…

CHRISTMAS CHAOS

CHRISTMAS CHAOS

‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the house

The paper was flying, the place was a mess.

Where’s the ribbon, where’s a box, where’s the tape, I don’t know –

And outside the window, it’s beginning to snow.

When I in my flurry, was running around, remembered “Oh-no, I have to go back to town!”

I have to mail packages, to those far away. How long will it take – a week or three days?

There’s munchies to buy, and a dinner to plan…and what, oh what, can I get for the “man”?

The pets all need feeding, and what could be more? The neighbors are here, with a knock at the door.

They come bringing cheese balls, and cookies galore.

I say thank you, then usher them out. Then I turn around and say with a shout, “I have to make gifts for those on our street!”

But, I’m about to collapse from the heat.

Get up and go, let’s do the day right. Put on some music, and candles to light.

A box of cards, my cup of coffee…should I eat that last piece of toffee?

Christmas ideas are really quite lofty, and really, at heart, I’m such a softie.

I’ll wrap a few gifts, then do some leg lifts; look at the snow – it’s now making drifts.

Put lots of presents in pretty paper, and think up some clues, for a Christmas caper.

Pull on some mittens, put on a scarf. If I hear one more carol, I’m going to barf.

I jump in the truck to go do my shopping; the stores are all crowded…the places are hopping.

On Target, and K-Mart, and Hastings, and Penny’s…Now United and Wal-Mart – can we stop at a Denny’s?

No – get it done – there’s no time to waste…I need to get home…hurry, hurry, make haste.

And then to the wondering eyes of those there, I manage to put some dye on my hair.

Some coffee, some milk, is all that I ask…to put my feet up, before my next task.

To watch my soap opera, would be a nice break. I think I’ll do that, and also eat cake.

I just settled down, and there goes the phone; I, of course don’t answer, I pretend I’m not home.

And now it’s time to do some more wrapping. We’ll put on some music – our feet will be tapping.

Merry Christmas to one, Merry Christmas to all…What’s that you say? Another trip to the mall?

I don’t think I want to…I don’t think I can…but, wait, I still need a gift for the ‘man’.

We must keep it even, we must keep it straight…I need another gift for my mate.

What shall it be, something big, or much smaller? As I walk the halls of the mall, I do holler.

I need to find a gift that is right – before I call it quits for the night.

So, I go to the mall, and the stores…and stand in long lines, before I get out the doors.

The aisles are all crowded, the cart’s in a jam…say “Excuse me, pardon me, excuse me, Ma’am.”

At first, we’re polite, when we go to town, but as frustration mounts, we’ll mow you down.

When there’s only one more shopping day…you better move fast, get outta my way.

Can’t find the right size, can’t find the right gift, then stop by the Starbucks to get a lift.

Give me caffeine right now, I say, got to get on with this frantic day.

Have a nice day, be jolly, be merry…if I hear it again, I’ll commit hara-kiri. It’s my ‘pleasure’ to serve you,

Uh-huh, yeah right…you probably make faces, as I pull out of sight.

Finally, finally get back home, where I just want to sit and moan.

My feet hurt, my back hurts, my nerves are all jangled…and how do you wrap a box that’s tri-angled?

Back at home, I start wrapping, all the critters are napping…

The oven is cooking the breads, how merry, but now I need another cranberry.

Merry Christmas to me…let’s trim the tree…and now the cats are OOC (out of control)

Happy to make your Christmas surprise, waiting for the bread to rise.

Christmas morning comes awfully early; no wonder everyone is so surly.

Buying spending – oh, what fun…we’ll all be glad when shopping is done.

The stockings are ready to hold all the goodies – maybe some candy or nice warm hoodies.

Light candles, fill stockings, with striped candy canes. Look out the window, hope it won’t rain.

Sweep the floor, wash the dishes, deck the halls with Christmas wishes.

There’s potatoes to mash, and take out the trash…as for me, I think I’m about to crash.

Finally, everything looks really pretty, Charlie (the tree) is ready, and still little bitty.

Now, take a picture, and go to our beds. I hope no one forgot to take their meds.

When morning comes, we’ll all get to say…we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Then, I look in the living-room, and what do I see? One of the cats is eating the tree. I holler and yell, but then, what does it

matter…I’ll just have to clean up the mess later.

She enjoys Christmas her way…I prefer mine…

So Merry Christmas to all…from our family to thine.

Just one more thing I’d like to say – Happy Holidays to all and Have a Wonderful Day!

MAKE-UP MADNESS

Dear Make-up Companies,

I love to wear make-up. There, I’ve said it, and lots of women would agree with me, I’m sure.

This letter is just a general observation for you all. I’m not singling any specific one of you out, as for myself, I use make-up products from several companies, every day.

My question is…why do you feel you need to discontinue parts of your product line, from time to time? Let’s take, for example, eye-liners. You develop an awesome eye-liner. It sells all across the U.S. and possibly more countries, around the globe. It has sold very well for years. There is loyalty from the consumers of this particular eye-liner.

Then, one day, it is nowhere to be found; no stores have it for sale, anymore.

Why would you cancel a very popular product? Why would you not even give a warning, that it soon would be gone? Is that any way to treat your customers?

We then have to go through a process of finding another eye-liner that we like. We already know whatever we find, won’t be as good as the old one was. What we do, is buy another one from your product line. We try it…reject it. Then, we buy one from another company…try it, reject it. On and on it goes, until we finally settle for one, because, hey…we ‘need’ some eye-liner.

Then, maybe years later, the original company advertises that they have their awesome eye-liner, again. We get all excited that, yay, our old favorite is back. But, we look at the package. It says ‘new and improved formula’. It promises to be everything the old one was, and more.

So, we buy it, try it, and…what a letdown. It’s not that it’s bad, just different, and not in a good way. It has not been improved at all, and it isn’t the old stand-by, either.

I’m sure there will be plenty of buyers of this ‘new’ one, and possibly will become their favorite. They never used the first one, though.

Meanwhile, we are left disappointed with the quality, and regret all the money we’ve wasted, trying different ones. We even do a small rant, in our minds, every time we put on eye-liner, from whichever company we buy it from. You know how it goes…”Why? Just, why did you do it?”

I’d really like an explanation.

Sincerely,

Looking for Answers

A FIRE…AFIRE

A FIRE…AFIRE

Just thinking about fire. You know when you are thinking of something and you say your thoughts are on fire, or when you’re writing something, and it is going really good, you feel like you are on fire with the words pouring from your mind, this is a good thing, right? I guess it is a bit of a cliche, or just a figure of speech, to say or hear the words someone says to you, when you are getting things done at a good pace, “Wow, you’re really on fire, today!”

Everyone knows we are not literally  on fire; it’s basically a compliment…I think. But, have you ever really been on fire? I would hope not, and my prayers go out to anyone who has been. However, I have been on fire, sort of…my hair caught fire one time.

It is a funny story, now, but at the time it could have been worse. It was on my birthday, a few years back. My daughter had made me a super cool cake, made from Krispy Kreme doughnuts, covered in chocolate frosting. I leaned over to blow out the candles on top, never noticing my long hair had caught on fire. I heard sizzling and everyone started hollering and hitting me! Well, that’s just great…a great way to wish someone a happy birthday. Then, I heard what they were yelling, that my hair was on fire! Well, it didn’t do too much damage, and we did laugh about it, later. The cake was delicious, too!

Another time I encountered a fire, was when I was doing telemarketing. It was for selling those local coupon booklets. The company promised delivery of an order within minutes of placing one. This day, though, the drivers were all out on calls, and I volunteered to drive the booklet out and collect the money…but, it was to the next little town over. I knew I could do it, though, and I hurried over there. When I got to the house and knocked at the door, no one answered. The main door was open, just a screen there, and I could see the lady. She was asleep on the couch. The only thing was, was something was on fire in her kitchen! Smoke was coming out of there, and I kept hollering for her to wake up. Finally, she did, and ran in there to put it out. She was happy I came by when I did. I collected the money and left.

This next time, me and my husband were traveling down the highway, between towns. It was very seldom we saw a house or farm along this stretch of road. The weather was dry, as usual, in Texas, and the grass was all crispy brown like it gets at times. As we passed along, we saw a small wildfire just getting started, out in these people’s field, coming closer to their house. The lady of the place was frantically trying to smother the fire with a blanket, but needed help. We pulled over, jumped out of the car, and helped her put it out. A couple of more passersby did the same. Glad we were able to help.

Well, another time, I did catch the stove in our government housing afire. I forgot the cinnamon toast in the broiler, and it went up in flames. I called the fire department, who came with sirens and lights. The whole neighborhood came out to watch. Our stove was toast! Kaput! There was a write up in the newspaper about it, later, and was a bit embarrassing that my lack of focus concerning bread in the oven (a bad habit of mine) had caused such a commotion.

Those are the fiery thoughts I had today. Hope you have had better luck with fire!

WAKE UP! DIMENSIONS IN TIME AND SPACE

Standard

WAKE UP! DIMENSIONS IN TIME AND SPACE

I’ve heard about there being other dimensions that exist alongside us in this time and space…unseen for the most part. Or maybe it is a parallel universe? Just going to throw out some thoughts for y’all to ponder, along with a few true incidents, that may or may not have been a case of a parting of the veil.

Is this ‘other’ place existing really close to us? Is it in the same room we’re in…or following us around? Is it everywhere on Earth? Is it there all the time, or just when we think about it? Are ‘we’ in it, too?

People are in this other world, too, but can they ever see us in our world? How come we don’t bump into them? Can they see us, or are they unaware? Maybe, their world is reality, and ours is their dream world. Could be, they wonder about this, too. Is this where doppelgangers come into play. Are we them, and they us…living our separate realities, just a little out of sync with each other. Is that where precognition, visions, and clairvoyance gets it’s start…by us seeing something ‘they’ do and then remembering it?

Would you like to see yourself doing things over there. It would be weird, I think, to get a glimpse of ourselves and others like that. Would you want to be able to go back and forth, from one dimension to the other, whenever you felt like it? It might be fun…or maybe it would be creepy.

I have had some strange experiences in the past, that I feel was a bit of this. There has been a sort of parting of the ether, an opening…a portal…to another place, and time, that has made me a believer in such things.

First, the name of this blog… ‘teleportingweena’… Weena (Rowena) is our tabby cat. I think she teleported herself, somehow. I don’t know where she went, but she was gone. She is an indoor cat, never outside, so there wasn’t any way she got lost out there. She was in the bedroom (the one with the levitating mirror), when we saw her last. She has her hiding places, here in the house, and we searched everywhere. She’d been gone for hours. We tore the house apart calling and looking for her, but she was gone. In despair of ever finding her again, she suddenly appeared…right in the spot we last saw her. There was no noise of her coming back, no sound of her scrabbling out of an overlooked hiding spot…she just materialized right there in the bedroom. She wasn’t frightened, or anything…she was just sitting there. Of course we made a fuss over her, and all was back to normal. But, where was she? What did she see? I wish we knew.

That was just one true instance of teleportation to another realm. There are more, involving different objects here in the house… and even of myself, my daughter, and my mother. I will tell you of them, in upcoming posts.

Don’t hesitate to tell me your thoughts, and/or experiences with the strange things that go on in this world.

CAYKUFKIWER…I MEAN CAULIFLOWER

Standard

So, I’m in a silly mood this Friday afternoon. This post is just some of the craziness I think of all the time, every day, random bits of this and that. Sometimes I can focus long enough to put together a coherent blog post, which sounds like I know what I’m talking about. Other times I just write down the free flow of thoughts in my notebooks, and I have a lot of them. (thoughts and notebooks)

So, back to the title of this. I had my fingers on the wrong keys to type the word cauliflower. It looks silly. So, I left it there. Actually, I’d been thinking of that word … how do you pronounce it? I’ve looked in the dictionary, and it’s pretty straight forward… ko-li-flau-er…with some little do-dads on top of the letters, that I don’t really know what they mean, and this keyboard probably don’t have them, anyway.

So, here’s what I was thinking about how to say it.

Call – a – flower ( is this a bit like ‘phone-a-friend’?)

Call – ya – flower ( Hey, come here, flower. Except flowers don’t generally travel around)

Collie – flour (like a dog? Covered in flour? Or, heaven forbid, flour made from a dog?)

I usually go with the second example, most of the time, even though I know it is wrong. Maybe it is just because of the southern (or Texas) dialect/accent?

So, anyway, cauliflower is a funny word. (and yes, I do like to eat it)

So, there are sure a lot of parentheses in here, and the word so…don’t ya think?

So, again, thanks for stopping by for a few laughs on this Friday afternoon. Have a great weekend! (and try not to think of the word cauliflower too much!) 🙂

OCEANS OF DARKNESS – MORNING DELIGHT

Stars shining bright…morning at  night…

So simple, yet so profound.

Earth revolving…darkness dissolving…

Look around…look around.

Sky slowly turns blue…it’s time we renew…

A new dawn is drawing near.

Birds are waking…we are partaking…

If only we stop and hear.

A dome of indigo above us…a hint of pink below

Calm and peaceful…tranquil and soft…

Be quiet and enjoy the show.

Breathe it in, the air…take in deep, the beauty there…

Free awakening of our soul.

Greet this new day…in your own unique way…

Renew, regroup, and be whole.

The ghosts of what went before, dissipate in the mists of time…

You’re creating a memory…don’t rush the sublime…

Drink it in…drink it in…

Raise up your face…you’re in the right place…

For your heart to rejoice and sing…

It’s time to embrace…to feel the grace…

Of treasures this new day will bring.
